Ibiza Itinerary: 5 vs 7 vs 10 Days - How Long Should You Stay?
Ibiza rewards a slower pace than its reputation suggests. Five days covers the essentials - one club night, the south coast, and Dalt Vila - but skips the north entirely. Seven days is where the island opens up: a full day in the quiet north, a Formentera crossing, and nightlife balanced against real rest. Ten days adds a private boat day, a wellness day, and enough breathing room that grandparents, couples, and clubbers can all get their version of the trip from the same villa.
This guide builds three itineraries - 5, 7 and 10 days - around the six things Ibiza actually offers: nightlife, south-coast beach clubs, the quiet north coast, Dalt Vila's culture and old town, Formentera and boat days, and wellness. Most first-time visitors only plan around the first two and miss the rest of the island entirely, and each plan below is built around a stay in one of our private-pool villas in Ibiza, paced to avoid that.
The 5-Day Itinerary: Is Five Days Enough for Ibiza?
Yes - for a south-focused, nightlife-first trip. Five days doesn't leave room for the north, Formentera, or a recovery day, so treat this as the greatest-hits version, not the full island.
| Day | Focus |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | Arrive & settle in - sunset spot, easy dinner |
| Day 2 | South beach day - Cala Jondal or Es Cavallet |
| Day 3 | Dalt Vila & Ibiza Town |
| Day 4 | Club night - Hï Ibiza, Pacha or Amnesia |
| Day 5 | Slow morning, departure |
Day 1 - Should You Plan Anything on Arrival Day?
No. Protect it. Flights delay, villas take time to settle into, and a rushed first day sets the tone for a rushed trip.
Morning
- Airport to most south-coast villa areas is 15–25 minutes.
- Stop for groceries on the way in - stocking breakfasts and poolside lunches saves real money over eating out for every meal.
Afternoon
- Check in, unpack, pool time. No agenda.
Evening
- Sunset at Café del Mar or Cala Comte - both face west and are reliably spectacular.
- Easy dinner in Ibiza Town. Early night.
| Time | What's Happening |
|---|---|
| Morning | Airport to villa, grocery stop |
| Afternoon | Check in, unpack, pool - no schedule |
| Evening | Sunset spot, easy dinner, early bed |
Day 2 - Which South Beach Should You Actually Pick?
Depends on what you want: Cala Jondal for the beach-club scene (home to Blue Marlin - expect to pay for a sunbed and a scene), or Es Cavallet for quieter swimming with less pretension and easier parking.
Morning
- Arrive early - both beaches get busy by mid-morning in peak season.
- Swim, settle in, order from the beach bar.
Afternoon
- Lounge, swim, lunch at the beach.
Evening
- Dinner near the beach or back at the villa.
| Time | What's Happening |
|---|---|
| Morning | Arrive early, swim |
| Afternoon | Beach club or quiet cove, lunch |
| Evening | Dinner near the coast |
Skip: Playa d'en Bossa on a weekend - it's the busiest strip on the island and works better as a nightlife base than a beach to relax on.
Day 3 - How Much Time Does Dalt Vila Actually Need?
A full morning, minimum. Dalt Vila is Ibiza's UNESCO-listed old town - Renaissance walls, cobbled streets, and views over the harbour that are worth seeing without rushing to a beach afterward.
Morning
- Walk Dalt Vila's walls and streets. Stop for coffee somewhere with a harbour view.
Afternoon
- Shop and eat in Ibiza Town below the old town.
Evening
- Dinner with the old town lit up above - several restaurants in the marina area have this view.
| Time | What's Happening |
|---|---|
| Morning | Dalt Vila walk |
| Afternoon | Ibiza Town shopping and lunch |
| Evening | Dinner with old-town views |
Skip: don't combine Dalt Vila with a beach day - the old town deserves its own unrushed few hours.
Day 4 - How Do You Do the Big Club Night Without Wrecking Day 5?
Pick one club - Hï Ibiza, Pacha or Amnesia - based on that week's lineup, and treat the whole day around it.
Morning
- Slow start, pool, light breakfast. Save your energy.
Afternoon
- A short beach session or rest at the villa. Nap if you can - clubs run until 6am.
Evening
- Proper dinner before heading out. Doors are typically midnight onward, with the night building toward 3–4am.
| Time | What's Happening |
|---|---|
| Morning | Slow start, pool |
| Afternoon | Rest, short beach session, nap |
| Evening | Dinner, club night |
Day 5 - What's the Right Way to Close Out a 5-Day Trip?
Slow. Don't schedule anything that requires precision timing.
Morning
- Late brunch, one last swim near the villa if your flight allows.
Afternoon
- Pack up, head to the airport with margin - Day 4's night out plus a tight connection is a bad combination.
| Time | What's Happening |
|---|---|
| Morning | Brunch, last swim |
| Afternoon | Pack, airport |
What 5 days can't fit: the north of the island, Formentera, and any buffer day. If Day 4's night runs long, you'll feel it on the flight home.
The 7-Day Itinerary: Is a Week Enough to See Both Sides of Ibiza?
Yes - this is the length that actually works for most travellers. A week gives the north its own day, fits a Formentera crossing, and spaces nightlife out instead of stacking it.
| Day | Focus |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | Arrive & settle in |
| Day 2 | South beach day - Cala Jondal or Es Cavallet |
| Day 3 | Formentera day trip |
| Day 4 | Dalt Vila & Ibiza Town |
| Day 5 | Club night |
| Day 6 | North Ibiza - Cala Xarraca, San Miquel, Benirrás |
| Day 7 | Slow morning, departure |
Days 1–2 follow the 5-day plan exactly: arrival day, then a south beach day.
Day 3 - Is the Formentera Ferry Worth a Full Day?
Yes, if you plan it properly. Take an early ferry (before 10am) from Ibiza Town, Figueretas or Playa d'en Bossa.
Morning
- Ferry crossing (30 minutes–1 hour). Rent a bike or e-bike at the port on arrival.
- Cycle to Ses Illetes - turquoise water on both sides of a narrow sand spit, and one of the best beaches in the Balearics.
Afternoon
- Swim, lunch at the beach, then a short ride to Sant Francesc Xavier for a slower look at the island.
Evening
- Catch the last ferry back (around 11pm in summer). Easy dinner once you're back.
| Time | What's Happening |
|---|---|
| Morning | Ferry, bike hire, Ses Illetes |
| Afternoon | Swim, lunch, Sant Francesc Xavier |
| Evening | Last ferry back, easy dinner |
Skip: don't try to see all of Formentera in a day. Ses Illetes plus a short ride into the main village is enough - covering the whole island turns into a rushed cycling slog.
Day 4 - Dalt Vila & Ibiza Town
Day 5 - Club Night
Same structure as the 5-day plan - pick your club, rest beforehand, dinner first.
Day 6 - What Is There to Actually Do in North Ibiza?
Drive north to Cala Xarraca - calm, sheltered water, good for snorkelling - or Benirrás, a bohemian sunset spot known for its Sunday drum circles. This day is the deliberate opposite of Day 5: slow, quiet, no crowds.
Morning
- Drive north (45–60 minutes from most south-coast bases). Swim at Cala Xarraca.
Afternoon
- Lunch in San Miquel village, then a second cove if energy allows - Cala Xuclar or Cala d'en Serra are both close by.
Evening
- If it's a Sunday, time your visit to Benirrás for the drum circle at sunset. Otherwise, dinner back at the villa.
| Time | What's Happening |
|---|---|
| Morning | Drive north, Cala Xarraca |
| Afternoon | Lunch in San Miquel, second cove |
| Evening | Benirrás sunset (Sundays) or villa dinner |
Skip: don't drive to more than one or two north beaches in a day - the roads are narrow and winding, and the point of the north is slowing down, not checklisting coves.
Day 7 - Last Morning & Departure
Morning
- One final swim near the villa.
Afternoon
- Pack up, fly home.
Why 7 works so well: the big night (Day 5) sits between two calm days rather than back-to-back with other activities, so you actually recover before flying home.
The 10-Day Itinerary: Is Ten Days Too Much for Ibiza?
Rarely. Ten days is when Ibiza stops being a checklist and starts being an actual holiday. This is where a villa earns its keep - ten days of restaurant dinners and hotel logistics gets old fast, and a private pool and kitchen mean you're not "on" for the whole trip.
| Day | Focus |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | Arrive & settle in |
| Day 2 | South beach day - Cala Jondal or Es Cavallet |
| Day 3 | Formentera day trip |
| Day 4 | Dalt Vila & Ibiza Town |
| Day 5 | Club night #1 |
| Day 6 | Villa rest day |
| Day 7 | North Ibiza, part 1 - Cala Xarraca, San Miquel |
| Day 8 | Private boat day - Es Vedrà, Cala Es Canaret |
| Day 9 | North Ibiza, part 2 or club night #2 |
| Day 10 | Slow morning, departure |
Days 1–2 - arrival day, then a south beach day, as above.
Day 3 - Formentera day trip, as above, with less time pressure since it's not squeezed between other must-dos.
Day 4 - Dalt Vila & Ibiza Town, as above.
Day 5 - Club Night #1
Same structure as the 5 and 7-day plans.
Day 6 - Does a Full Villa Rest Day Really Matter on a 10-Day Trip?
Yes. No parks, no early alarms, no plans. The villa is the destination today.
Morning
- Sleep in. Slow breakfast by the pool.
Afternoon
- Pool, loungers, lunch from the villa kitchen. If your villa has a chef arrangement, this is the day to use it.
Evening
- Dinner in - barbecue if the villa has a grill, or a private chef night. Early night, or a film by the pool.
| Time | What's Happening |
|---|---|
| Morning | Sleep in, slow breakfast |
| Afternoon | Pool, villa lunch |
| Evening | Dinner in, early night |
Day 7 - North Ibiza, Part 1
Same as the 7-day plan's Day 6 - Cala Xarraca in the morning, San Miquel for lunch.
Day 8 - What Does a Private Boat Day Actually Add?
Access to coves you can't reach any other way. Charter a boat for the day, or join a group excursion.
Morning
- Depart from the south coast. Head toward Cala d'Hort, looking out at the dramatic silhouette of Es Vedrà offshore.
Afternoon
- Snorkelling stops, a swim at Cala Es Canaret in the north (boat-access only), lunch on board or at a beachfront spot.
Evening
- Back at the villa early - full days on the water are tiring in a good way.
| Time | What's Happening |
|---|---|
| Morning | Depart, Cala d'Hort, Es Vedrà |
| Afternoon | Snorkelling, Cala Es Canaret, lunch |
| Evening | Early return, quiet night |
Skip: don't combine a boat day with anything else - you'll want an early night after.
Day 9 - Second North Day or Club Night #2?
Depends on group energy. Benirrás for a sunset with the Sunday drum circle is the lower-key option; a second club night is the higher-energy one.
Morning
- If choosing the north: drive to Benirrás, swim, explore the village of Sant Joan nearby.
- If choosing nightlife: rest, pool, light activity.
Afternoon
- North option: lunch in a nearby village. Club option: continue resting ahead of the night.
Evening
- North option: Benirrás sunset and drums. Club option: dinner, then out.
| Time | What's Happening |
|---|---|
| Morning | Benirrás day or rest day |
| Afternoon | Village lunch or continued rest |
| Evening | Sunset drums or club night |
Day 10 - Slow Morning & Departure
Morning
- Villa pool, no alarm, final swim if timing allows.
Afternoon
- Pack up, fly home without rushing.
Why villas earn their keep at this length: ten days of restaurant dinners adds up fast in both cost and energy. A villa kitchen means some nights are a quiet home-cooked meal instead of another table booking - which matters once you're staying long enough to actually want a night off.
5 vs 7 vs 10 Days: Quick Comparison
| 5 Days | 7 Days | 10 Days | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best for | First-timers, weekend clubbers | Most travellers | Families, villa groups |

| South beach days | 1 | 1-2 | 2-3 |
| North Ibiza | Doesn't fit | 1 dedicated day | 2 dedicated days |
| Dalt Vila / culture | 1 day | 1 day | 1 day |
| Formentera | Skip it | 1 day trip | 1 day trip, less rushed |
| Boat day | Not realistic | Possible if you drop something else | Fits comfortably |
| Villa rest day | None | Implicit (Day 6–7) | 1 dedicated day |
| Best accommodation | Hotel or apartment | Hotel or small villa | Villa |
What Should You Sort Out Before You Go?
Club Tickets
Superclub nights at Hï Ibiza, Pacha, Amnesia and Ushuaïa regularly sell out in peak season (June–September). Buying your entry ahead of time is worth doing wherever you can - walk-up prices at the door tend to run higher, and the biggest nights can be gone before you get near the entrance. Eat a proper meal before you go: Ibiza clubs run until 6am and food options inside are minimal.
Formentera Ferry Tickets
Ferries leave from Ibiza Town, Figueretas and Playa d'en Bossa, and the crossing itself is short - usually somewhere between 30 minutes and an hour. A round trip generally costs €25–50, depending on the season and which operator you book with. Crossings during July–August fill up - book online rather than turning up at the port.
Car Rental
A rental car is close to essential if the north of the island is on your itinerary - the coves there aren't realistically reachable by bus or on foot. Pricing swings a lot with the season: figure on somewhere around €25–40 a day if you're travelling in April or May, climbing well past €60 a day, sometimes closer to €90, once July and August hit. Book online in advance rather than at the arrivals desk, where prices and availability are worse.
What to Pack
- Reef shoes - several of the best north-coast coves are pebble or rock, not sand
- High-SPF, reef-safe sunscreen - Mediterranean sun is stronger than it looks, especially on a boat day
- A light layer for the boat or an evening at altitude - inland roads through the hills get noticeably cooler after dark
- A padlock or dry bag if you're doing a boat day or Formentera by bike - lockers aren't always available
Travelling as a Family or Mixed-Age Group
The north suits families and travellers who want a slower pace, with calmer coves and less crowding than the south. The south, meanwhile, is where you'll find everything practical - it's the side with the airport, the port, and Ibiza Town's shops and pharmacies close at hand, which matters more when mobility or timing is a factor. This plan gives the north and south their own separate days rather than combining them - trying to squeeze both into one day usually just means a long drive eating into time you'd rather spend at a beach. It's the same north/south trade-off worth weighing against villas elsewhere in Spain if Ibiza's split-island logistics don't suit a mixed-age group.
What About Formentera - Isn't That Worth Adding as Its Own Stay?
The itineraries above treat Formentera as a day trip, which is enough for most visitors. For a proper look at the island, an overnight extension is worth considering.
| Option | Distance & Stay | Why Go |
|---|---|---|
| Formentera day trip | 30–60 min ferry; same-day (Day 3 of the 7 and 10-day plans) | Ses Illetes beach alone justifies the crossing |
| Formentera overnight | 30–60 min ferry; 1–2 nights | No high-rises, no traffic - a genuinely different pace than Ibiza, worth it if you have 10+ days total |
| Extra villa night | Adds flexibility to any plan | Useful if a boat day or club night gets weathered out and needs rescheduling |
An overnight Formentera extension pairs naturally with a villa base back on Ibiza - your specialist can help time it around your return flight.
